This opening piste introduces the Schattberg side of the circuit. Its position between the first gondola ride and the Limberg section makes it a useful landmark when reading the route map.
Three mountain sectors, blue pistes and a finish in Saalbach.
Explore the Saalbach-Runde via Schattberg, Schönleiten and Kohlmais. See the piste numbers, connecting lifts and route map in Ski In Ski Route.
For skiers comfortable on blue valley runs who want to connect several mountain sectors in one outing.
01 / Get to know the route
The Saalbach-Runde links the Schattberg, Schönleiten and Kohlmais sides of the valley. You start with the Schattberg X-press, descend towards Jausern and gradually work your way back to Saalbach across the opposite slopes. It is a rewarding way to get your bearings before exploring more of the Skicircus.
The official circuit covers approximately 19 km and uses eight lifts. The changing mountain sectors give the outing its variety: a valley descent towards Jausern, a climb onto Schönleiten and a succession of Kohlmais runs leading back towards the village.

02 / Route stages
From one mountain sector to the next: follow the pistes and lifts of the official ski circuit.
Start with the Schattberg X-press and piste 4. The Limberg 8er supplies the next climb, followed by pistes 2 and 2a towards Jausern and the Schönleiten side. This opening combines the high mountain sector with a substantial valley descent.
Ride the Schönleitenbahn and follow pistes 162 and 164. The Schönleiten 6er then connects the route towards Kohlmais. These are useful lift names and piste numbers to recognise when crossing to the opposite side of the valley.
Pistes 166 and 157 take the circuit to the Magic 6er. After this ascent, pistes 158 and 166 link the route onwards towards the Panorama lift. Follow the signed numbers at the junctions to stay with the official round.
The Panorama 6er is the final lift in the published sequence. Pistes 155 and 152 complete the official itinerary towards Saalbach. The return to the village gives you a useful landmark for planning the rest of your ski day.
03 / Pistes
This opening piste introduces the Schattberg side of the circuit. Its position between the first gondola ride and the Limberg section makes it a useful landmark when reading the route map.
The long connection towards Jausern is a defining part of the round. Blue classification still allows steeper passages; the lower valley section deserves attention when conditions become more demanding.
The official round uses pistes 166 and 157 before the Magic lift, followed by 158 and 166. Later, pistes 155 and 152 close the circuit. Those changing numbers help you follow your progress through the Kohlmais sector.

05 / Tips
Comfort on a blue practice slope is a different starting point from confidence on a long valley descent. Consider the Jausern section when deciding whether the complete round suits your group.
The start at Schattberg X-press and the finish on the Maisabfahrt are different points in Saalbach. Leave time to get back to your accommodation or starting lift after the final run.
