Discover Zell am Ziller.

Zell am Ziller lies on the floor of the Zillertal valley. The village and surrounding mountain communities form the western gateway to Zillertal Arena. From the lift base, take the Rosenalmbahn or Karspitzbahn up to the pistes.

On the mountain, you can stay around Rosenalm and Karspitz or head towards Gerlos. Down in the valley are the village centre and activities such as the Arena Coaster and Freizeitpark. You can combine a day on the mountain with an afternoon in the valley.

Things to do in Zell am Ziller

From Zell towards Gerlos

The pistes and lifts above Zell connect to the Gerlos sector. Plan a crossing with a clear return route; distances over the mountain differ from those between the villages in the valley.

The Höhenfresser Tour

This long descent runs from Übergangsjoch all the way to the valley at Zell. Around ten kilometres of pistes and a vertical drop of 1,930 metres make it a demanding descent for experienced skiers.

Arena Coaster by the valley station

The alpine coaster starts and finishes down by the Rosenalmbahn. You do not need a gondola ride to reach this attraction. Check opening times and conditions of use when planning a ride.

Getting there

To the lifts and back

Zell is accessible on the Zillertalbahn railway. The ski bus connects the village and surrounding accommodation with the lift base. Check your route to the valley station when choosing where to stay: an address in Zell does not automatically mean accommodation beside the piste.

Is Gerlosstein part of the route to Gerlos?

Gerlosstein is at Hainzenberg and has its own cable car and pistes. It is a separate sector; the connected ski route from Zell to Gerlos runs through the main ski area.

What can I do in Zell without skiing?

The Arena Coaster is beside the Rosenalmbahn. The Freizeitpark in Zell offers an ice rink and indoor activities, among other options; check the facilities and opening times before visiting.
