Hopfgarten lies at the foot of the Hohe Salve. Its historic centre gives the village a distinctive character, with narrow streets and the feel of a market town. The gondola provides access to the mountain and the wider SkiWelt.
The Salvenbahnen take you up in two stages. Blue and red pistes lie around Foisching and Schernthanner; the runs become more demanding higher on the Hohe Salve. There is a practice area by the valley station for those still working on their first turns.

Views from the Hohe Salve
The freestanding summit offers wide views across the Kitzbüheler Alpen and towards the Wilder Kaiser. Take the gondolas up, including for a visit without skis.
Practice area by the valley station
A dedicated practice area with conveyor lifts is at village level. Beginners can take lessons close to the village while others explore the mountain pistes.
Walks by the middle station
There are winter walks around the middle station. Combine a walk with a mountain visit and return to Hopfgarten by gondola.

To the lifts and back
Hopfgarten is accessible by train. The Hopfgarten Berglift stop is near the lift access point; local buses also serve the surrounding villages. Check the right stop and the connection to your accommodation when planning.

Can I take the gondola all the way to the Hohe Salve?
Yes, Salvenbahn I and II together take you from Hopfgarten to the summit. Cable car tickets are also available for pedestrians.

Kelchsau is in a side valley near Hopfgarten. For the connected SkiWelt area, travel to an access point such as the Salvenbahn in Hopfgarten.
